You know the candle you're saving because it was expensive?
Burn it.
The perfume you only wear when you have somewhere important to go?
Wear it on a Tuesday.
The pretty glasses sitting untouched in your cabinet, the dress you're waiting for the "right" dinner to wear, the good bottle of champagne, the bath soak you don't want to waste…
Use. The. Good. Stuff.
Somewhere along the way, we started saving our favorite things for a version of life that feels special enough to deserve them.
But what if this is the special occasion?
We're Romanticizing the Random Tuesday
Your life doesn't have to be exciting to make it beautiful.
Fresh flowers from the grocery store.
Your favorite perfume before running errands.
A candle burning while you answer emails.
Dinner on the pretty plates even though you ordered takeout.
A long shower, body oil, clean pajamas and absolutely nowhere to be.
An iced matcha in the glass that technically should be reserved for cocktails.
None of it is necessary.
That's kind of the point.
There is something really beautiful about doing little things simply because they make an ordinary day feel good.
Stop Waiting for Someone Else to Make It Special
I think sometimes we associate our "special" things with other people.
The dress needs a date.
The perfume needs plans.
The champagne needs a celebration.
The pretty table needs guests.
But you're allowed to create those moments for yourself.
Light the candle because you're home.
Put on the matching pajamas because you get to enjoy them.
Make the table pretty when you're the only person sitting at it.
Maybe luxury isn't always having more.
Maybe sometimes it's actually using and enjoying what you already have.
Consider This Your Permission Slip
Burn the candle.
Wear the outfit.
Open the bottle.
Take the bath.
Buy yourself the flowers.
Use the good skincare.
Spray the perfume generously.
Book the dinner.
And please, for the love of all things chic, stop saving your favorite things for a life you're already living.
Special occasion energy on a completely ordinary Thursday.
